Together we will explore the two new standardized mentor coaching forms

Khyla and Carrie will explain the thinking behind the forms, how they are intended to be used, and how they support coach development through meaningful, evidence-based feedback.

We will take a close look at each of the two new required forms:

Session Observation Form

This form is used during individual mentor coaching sessions when reviewing a recorded or observed coaching conversation. It provides a structured way to document observable coaching behaviors, recognize strengths, identify opportunities for growth, and track development over time while supporting coaches at the ACC, PCC, or MCC credential level.

Competency Review Form

This form provides an overall picture of a coach's development throughout the mentor coaching process. It captures demonstrated competencies, remaining growth areas, ethics verification, mentor coach observations, and the coach's own reflections as they progress toward credential readiness.

In the Live Sessions, We'll Cover:

  • Why ICF introduced these new forms.
  • The purpose of each form and when to use them.
  • How to document observable coaching behaviors using clear, competency-based language.
  • The difference between documenting an individual coaching session and evaluating development across multiple sessions.
  • How these forms support reflection, feedback, and coach growth throughout the mentor coaching process.
  • Resources available to help mentor coaches write objective, evidence-based feedback.
  • What these changes mean as ICF transitions to its new credentialing model in 2027.

Get ahead of the January 2027 rollout

These forms are already available for mentor coaches to begin using today.

Beginning January 1, 2027, coaches completing new mentor coaching hours toward an ICF credential will be required to work with an ICF Mentor Coach Specialization (MCS) mentor coach.

Beginning April 1, 2027, ACC and PCC Portfolio applicants will use enhanced mentor coaching documentation in place of the current Performance Evaluation requirement.

If you plan to become an MCS, currently serve as a mentor coach, or simply want to stay ahead of these important changes, this conversation will give you valuable insight directly from the ICF leaders who have been deeply involved in developing this work.

Come with your questions. Leave with greater clarity, confidence, and a deeper understanding of how these new tools can support meaningful coach development.
